I met with Stone to correct my basement flooding issues. He was very thorough — he spoke my language and explained every detail. He showed me how my heat was escaping and even found mold I didn’t know was mold. We went over all the different ways to fix my basement mold and flooding, and he came up with the best solution to fix everything and purify the basement air — and my upstairs air — at the same time. He even went outside to outline where the system would go so it wouldn’t interfere with my pool and patio. I would highly recommend meeting with Stone for a basement inspection on any issue.

Stone was beyond thorough in evaluating my basement as well as concise in detailing the issues and solutions. I made this appointment to get a second opinion after another provider gave me a quote that addressed only one immediate issue. As I’m looking to sell my home, I’m keen to know all the potential issues and solve them the right way, and I suspected the other vendor didn’t evaluate the basement as a whole. Stone was straightforward and never tried to “upsell” me on anything cosmetic or arbitrary that wouldn’t be necessary for a home sale. I really appreciated his candor as well as interim advice (e.g., throw away all cardboard boxes in your basement).

I can only review the estimate process, which, if $ is your focus, unexpectedly came in almost exactly as two other contractors. I shared the first estimate with the other two, and it was based on going over the home inspection, not an actual site visit. The critical difference is that Stone took the time to listen, and to pick up on all the possible pieces. Mold growth which could occur under the first floor through the insulation. Water, or moisture which could come through the walls. How the concrete would get to the basement when there were no windows or openings in the foundation. How, and where the water from the sump pump would exit the basement. Stone, and another contractor had concerns about the support beams, but the other contractor dropped them on inspection. Stone offered options. Any home owner might be asked to spend 10% of a house price on a basement which is barely used. You need to go with the company which thinks of everything the first time. I will update after completion.
